Kim Pennente, LMT, Reiki II

Reiki and Massage Practitioner 19462I have always been intrigued by the relationship between mind and body.

After working 25 years in the healthcare field, I’ve come to realize it’s all about striving to achieve personal balance. Throughout life we are continually put off balance by life stresses from emotional hurts, accidents, inactivity, repetitive actions, to illness.

The body continually seeks to achieve balance but sometimes we get ‘stuck’ and patterns or illness develop causing pain and/or dysfunction and this is when we need help.

When possible, I believe it is best to try the least invasive approach and always seek to address the root cause not just mask it.

For this reason, I am extremely happy to see the emergence of complimentary care combining treatments like chiropractic care, acupuncture, energy work, massage and many more modalities where practitioners are working together to develop individualized and integrated approaches to helping people restore their own balance and comfort.

Why massage?

Not only does it feel great the benefits of massage span the physiological and psychological providing:

  • Increased Circulation
  • Strengthening of Immune System
  • Reduced recovery time
  • Release of endorphins – our body’s natural pain killer
  • Headache relief
  • Help with anxiety
  • Decreases Stress

My interest in massage began when my daughter was born premature at 26 weeks weighing only 1lb 12 oz. One of the first things they did was place my daughter on my chest skin to skin. Touch has been proven to help premature babies thrive and provides a connection and purpose for parents feeling helpless. In that first moment and the continuing months at the hospital, I was in awe at the power of touch for both the receiver and giver. I feel nothing short of blessed to have two healthy children and that my daughter, now 13, has no side effects from being born so premature.

I would describe my approach to massage as integrated and do not claim one technique or type of massage since at least to me that would be like only using a hammer for all of my household projects. Different problems require different tools and approaches.

I not only have a great amount of respect for Dr. Veronica Collings but know firsthand how life changing the support she provides can be since she’s been a personal catalyst to helping me and other family members get back into balance. I am thrilled to be working with Dr. Veronica Collings in helping people feel better.

It is with great gratitude that I get to do what I really enjoy and believe in.
